EFT, EFIT, and EFFT

What is EFT (for couples)? Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a well-known humanistic approach to psychotherapy formulated in the 1980’s and developed in tandem with the science of adult attachment, a profound developmental theory of personality and intimate relationships. The EFT model prioritizes emotion and emotional regulation as the key organizing agents in individual experience and key relationship interactions.

What is EFIT? While EFT is best known as an attachment-oriented couple intervention, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) applies the same perpective and interventions to individuals.

What is EFFT? Emotionally Focused Family Therapy is application of the Emotionally Focused model to distressed families.
